A thank you letter from the THIMUN Thread.
As THIMUN Singapore 2024 comes to an end, we’d like to give our closing remarks on the council as a whole.
It’s been an exhilarating journey, filled with highs and lows cutting through the often boring debate, drawing much laughter from delegates within a multitude of councils, as the humorous side of delegates came to light at many times to lighten up council all throughout the conference, through the numerous creative solutions devised and many, many resolutions passed. With so many moments that’ll be forever engraved for years to come, the likes of suspected sabotage in GA3, squabbles in GA1, fighting for freedoms in HRC and passionate debates in Security Council among others, coming to mind, it’s safe to say this conference was definitely one for the road. Before the curtains close for one last time, here’s the Thread’s closing remarks
Ethan
The end of this conference is most definitely a bittersweet thought to fathom. There’s no other conference I would’ve wanted to have my first experience as chair at. Through the dinner and dance, exhilarating debates through the multitude of councils and everything in between, the 4 days were a blur of excitement and memories. The times I shared with the team here at the THIMUN Thread will last a lifetime, and through the rush of articles, stories posted and memes on Instagram, I’m just thankful I got the chance to be a part of it. All the best for the future!

It’s quite ironic that despite the sheer amount of writing I’ve been doing (including the countless pursuits for synonyms), there has not been a single adjective I find would do my experience with The THIMUN Thread enough justice. Nonetheless, bear with me as I give it my best shot. Working together with the press team for this year’s Singapore Conference has been an incomparable joy I have had the utmost privilege of experiencing. Learning how to use WordPress—and the m-dash (thanks Brooke!) was one of many lessons I learned throughout the conference (while climbing up and down IFS’ countless flights of stairs and weaving through the convoluted web of committees). Watching delegates fight for a future they believe in, all the while taking every opportunity to start a third world war, was a perfect encapsulation of not merely MUN, but being young in a world abundant in its flaws. Flaws THIMUN has shown me we as a generation, are wholly capable of improving, in spite of the fun we have as we make our change. I am profoundly grateful to have had the opportunity to prove this, through The THIMUN Thread.
Brooke
My time on the THIMUN Thread has been one of the most affirming experiences of my life. It seems surreal to have worked with a team that bonded so quickly and worked so effectively; it is equally surreal that hat this week has come to an end. You see when my plane landed Monday morning, I was so unsure of myself or how I would perform in the foreign capacity of EIC. But now, with my bags packed, ready for the flight home, I am overwhelmed with pride for my team, myself and most of all the work we have produced. I look forward to what we have ahead of us, and will forever be grateful for what you have shown me.

Unlike most of you, this conference is only my second MUN conference, so I am new in this world, but each time, I meet wonderful people either in the press corp team or in the comities! I started understanding all the details about the conferences and how everything works. But I was honoured that you believed in me to take photos of this conference! I really hope all of you find your best portrait, even if it was complex to get pictures of every one of you! I am also so proud that I was able to share the press corp world with Caitlyn, Zoe, Ethan and Brooke, who were the best coworkers I could have hoped for! See you some for THIMUN The Hague, cause I’ll come back with, I hope, even better photo ideas and Instagram posts to do !!
