The guests of honour at THIMUN Singapore 2024
The who, where and what about the guests of honour at THIMUN Singapore 2024.
At THIMUN Singapore 2024, we see honourable chairs , fellow delegates, and special guests arriving at IFS for the conference. Here’s The THIMUN Thread’s introduction to these new guests, the how, where, what and why of their roles and what to know about them!
Karima El Korri (UN resident coordinator of Singapore, Malaysia and Brunei Darussalam)
Ms. Karima El Korri’s role as a UN resident coordinator makes her the highest ranking representative of the UN’s development system at the national level, representing the UN, cooperating efforts to reach the goals outlined by the UN and cooperating the UN country team (UNCT) with local host governments, among others. Since her appointment in 2021, she has led the 2030 Agenda division at the United Nations Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA).
Needless to say, she plays an important role in helping the operations of the United Nations within Singapore. She also helps the UN move our world forward, leaving no country behind, making her appearance at the conference a special honour indeed.
Anneke Adema (Dutch Ambassador to Singapore)
Anneke Adema’s role as Dutch ambassador to Singapore is not an easy one. The Netherlands has held relations with Singapore for over 200 years, and managing international affairs is no easy feat. She helps manage communication between the Netherlands and Singapore, helping represent the interests of the Netherlands while also helping Singaporean businesses in Holland, and Dutch businesses with a presence in Singapore.
The ambassador’s presence at this year’s THIMUN Singapore is a high distinction indeed, and helps emphasise the changing relations and international negotiations at the conference.
Minh Di Tang (French ambassador to Singapore)
Representing France at the embassy in Singapore, Her Excellency Minh Di tang helps maintain positive international relations between the republic of France and the republic of Singapore, facilitating and furthering French international policy within Singapore, improving France-Singapore relations. She also assists French citizens in Singapore and helping French businesses in Singapore, among other things.
Her Excellency Minh Di tang has graced her presence here at THIMUN Singapore 2024, helping highlight this year’s theme of peace, law and justice and giving delegates a reminder of the magnitude of MUN.
